My Dear Sir


I have sent the first half
or so of the revised proofs to
Clowes & Coy , & will send the
remainder tomorrow . I will
make few or no alterations ,
in order that there may be
no delay ; and they may go
on printing off by Monday .


I hope the paper in
Frazer will do no harm —
if only by identifying me
in some way with the subject
of the Stephensons . I hear

him as contemplated — one by
Manly of the Civil Engineers ,
another by a Mr W. B. Adams.
Theirs will be engineering mainly ,
& therefore I will [¿] to make
mine popular. Shall I write
Whymper about the requisite cuts?
